I’m still here and a part of the blog!

Hi everybody!

Sorry for not writing since more two months… 😬

I’ve had a lot going on. So we’ll catch up on that, first.

My summer vacations ended on 14th July. During my holidays, I went to a few places in South India! It was super fun. Then I got a library membership on 27th June. So, so happy with that. And school started all too quickly…

But I read a lot of books during my holidays! Here are the reviews of some:

1. Faces in the Water: A book on female infanticide in India. Ranjit Lal wrote on a highly repressed topic of Indian society with great sensitivity. Definitely worth a read. ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑/⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑

2. Karna’s Wife: This book is told from the point of view of the Mahabharata (an epic from Hindu mythology) character’s Karna’s wife, Uruvi. To be honest, I never thought I would read such a book. The author, Kavita Kané, executed the idea perfectly. ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭒/⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑

3. One of Us is Lying: If I had to sum up the book in one adjective, it would be: mind-blowing. The characters are cliché, but the unusual thing is that Karen McManus did is openly acknowledge it. And made it a bit more unique for me. And the ending left my jaw hanging. If you haven’t read it, you definitely should. ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑/⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑

4. The Bone Sparrow: This book tackled a topic I’ve never read about: the lives of refugees in camps. The special thing: It was told from the perspective of a nine-year-old child named Subhi. Zara Fraillon gracefully fuses the two different lives of Jimmy and Subhi into one beautiful and crazy adventure. ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑/⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑

5. The Hunger Games: OH. MY. GODS. I AM ABSOLUTELY MINDBLOWN. This book beautifully describes every single place Katniss is in, what she’s wearing and what she observes. And the storyline, oh my gods. I got absolutely addicted to this book. So much that I stayed up till 1:45 a.m. finishing it. That might not seem much to you, but it is a lot for me. 😀

Since my birthday was yesterday I got a ton of books:

1. The Trials of Apollo and the Burning Maze
2. The Canterville Ghost
3. Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor
4. Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead
5. Atlantis Rising
6. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

And I’ll be getting a bunch more:

1. Camp Half-Blood Confidential
2. The Trials of Apollo and the Dark Prophecy
3. The Trials of Apollo and the Tower of Nero
4. The Song of Achilles
5. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

I am soooo excited to read all of them!!

HOW is it one year since Admist was founded?

Here’s my take on our 1-year blogversary.

From perspectives of fairy tale characters to haikus, it’s been one hell of a journey.

My current stats are:

60 posts (61 if you count this) · 210+ likes · 82 followers (including email followers)

It just seems yesterday that Kaashvi texted me on Google Chat on 26th May last year, that

*glares at Kaashvi for spelling errors*

But anyway, I accepted. Kaashvi uploaded my first ever post, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. And the next day, The Three Little Pigs. And then I got an idea: a perspective from a supposedly negative character. And that’s how Draco’s Diary was born. I, however, abandoned the project because of the increase in schoolwork. Then I dabbled in a little bit of art.

And then, I READ LITTLE WOMEN!!!!! And I created a story, The March Sisters. It’s my favourite story till now.

Stats shot up like crazy when Kaashvi’s interview with Gelina was posted on Gelina’s blog! It was terrific getting so much appreciation.

And then, well you guys know what I’ve been posting. Haikus, Books Worth Reading, a book review, interviews with fictional characters (Voldemort’s remains a favourite 😂), Harry Potter and Percy Jackson stuff, among other things.

It’s been an incredible journey, and I wish it will go on forever! 🙂

(WAIT, that sounds like I’m going away, but I am not. I repeat, I am NOT.)

Wordle

Deviating from my usual topic, I will be talking about a word game that has set the world on fire: Wordle.

If you’re on social media, you may have seen celebrities and ordinary people alike sharing their results of this brainteaser through black, yellow and green box emojis. In this puzzle, you’re supposed to guess the final word only through the boxes. The word can only be 5-lettered. It’s extremely fun, though a tad hard because you receive no clues to what the final word other than the three boxes. What do they signify, you ask?

The green box signifies that the letter of the word is in the word and is the right place.
The yellow box means that the letter is in the word, but not at the right place.
The black box denotes that the letter is not in the word at any place.

I honestly cannot say that I’m addicted to the game because it gives you only one attempt at guessing the word per day. That is best part, if I do say so myself. It prevents addiction. Though I have done it every single day since 21st February! 😜

Snigdha’s guide to creating beautiful stories for WordPress

• Think up of a topic
• Go to www.canva.com
• In the search bar, search for Your Stories

• If you want to create something by your own imagination, choose ‘Create a blank Your Story’. If you want to use a template for your story, choose a template that you like.

• The second most tedious part is here 😬 Go through different fonts and choose the one that really matches your character’s aesthetic. For example, if you take The March Sisters story and in that Meg’s, for the body text, you’ll see that I took something rather neat and curvy, and yet, simple, which I thought matches Meg’s personality perfectly.

• WRITE! (The most tedious part. Obviously.)
• Arrange the font size and colour according to your preferences.
• This one is optional but I highly recommend it: Choose something important to your character. If you take My Favourite Ravenclaws and in there Luna’s, you’ll see that I put her wand behind the body text. If you have trouble thinking about what would suit your character, go to Google and type: [your character’s name here] aesthetic. I did that for Meg’s body text, where I put the hand fan. It works and helps, trust me!

• When you’re done, download the design from Canva from your phone.
• Stories can be uploaded only through phone so from the WordPress app, click on the’+’ button and select ‘Story Post’.
• Upload your images and rearrange them in the correct order because WordPress does it terribly. 🤦‍♀️
• And voila! You’re done!
